How to take this herbal fiber to cleanse the colon
Since most people consume less fiber per day than is recommended, you should start out with 1-teaspoon (2.5 g) servings 2 times per day and gradually increase, over 2 weeks, to the recommended serving. The recommended serving size per day is based on weight:
- Up to 150 pounds (68 kg): 1 tablespoon (8 g)
- 150-200 pounds (68-90 kg): 1.5 tablespoons (12 g)
- 200 pounds or more (90+ kg): 2 tablespoons (16 g)

How does the colon get into a bad state?
It's mostly from the effect of modern living
One of the most important and least understood processes in our body is elimination. Most
people know very little about it - some don't want to know anything about it either. But if
the function of the colon is impaired or disrupted, enormous stress is placed on the other
organs of the body.
Although this modern age offers the best medical facilities and technology, it also offers the greatest variety of chemicals, poisons, toxins and poor quality foods yet available to man. In all our great wisdom and knowledge,
we are slowly killing ourselves.
We suffer today from diseases that never plagued mankind before. Our diets are sadly lacking in the good nutrition and fiber , which we need to maintain healthy lifestyle.
The results of bad eating habits are vast and varied, ranging from weakened immune systems and obesity, to parasites, candida and even skin disorders. We are all too familiar with inconveniences such as constipation, diarrhea, heartburn, urinary tract infections, flatulence and upset stomachs. THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
Our digestive system is a highly complex system of organs that work together to digest food. It can be divided into two sections: Absorption and Elimination,
Section 1- ABSORPTION
The first section is made up of the mouth, esophagus, stomach and small intestine. Digestion begins when we put food into our mouths. Although we all have to eat to live, eating is just the first stage in getting nourishment from our food. Nearly everything that we eat has to be broken down before it can be used. Before your body can absorb food, it breaks it down into smaller units. Proteins called enzymes carry this out. Enzymes work by speeding up a particular chemical reaction which makes a food substance break down. Once this has happened, the nutrients can then be passed into the body.
The small intestine releases it's own digestive enzymes, which aid in the breaking down of food, which is then absorbed through the villi into the blood stream. Villi are small finger like projections that contain a network of capillaries, which easily absorb nutrients.
Section 2- ELIMINATION
After most absorption has taken place, undigested waste is passed into the colon. The colon doesn't carry out much absorption other than water - almost 90% of the water is absorbed and the liquid remains are changed into solid masses called faeces. The colon is the organ that needs fiber the most. The walls of the colon are not smooth but compressed or collapsed in folds (similar to a concertina file). Faecal matter can become lodged in these folds, and unless there is sufficient fibre to remove this matter, it collects, hardens and putrification begins.
Putrification is when unfriendly bacteria begin to multiply, causing faecal matter to rot. The toxins, which are then released, can be absorbed into the blood stream and redistributed throughout the body. This process is called auto-intoxification . Serious problems can arise from this state.
PARASITES
Another problem caused by poorly cleansed colons is PARASITES.
Because there are parasites in most water, raw foods and undercooked meats , our food should be promptly processed and eliminated before parasites have the opportunity to multiply. The incubation for most parasites is 36 hours, so you should expect parasite infestation if you have poor eliminations.
